Happy July 4th weekend, everyone!
It’s been over two weeks since I last spoke to you all, and boy do I have a lot to tell.
First off, I want to apologize for being so distant. Your girl was actually in the middle of making moves — one of which, I can finally talk to you about.
However, in the process, I broke my promise to be consistent and for that I must atone for my actions.
With that said, this week I will sit down, watch The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and finally release a new Disney Headscratcher entry in addition to a weekly post. It’s been a while and I should really get to it.
Anywho, the BIG news I wanted to spill with you guys was that (drum roll please)…
I was invited to join InStyle magazine for a Facebook Live session! After pitching a story about being a D.I.Y. bride for my wedding, the wonderful editors there asked if I would show off my skills by teaching their fans how to make one of my many paper flower centerpieces. Watch me in action, here:
Yup, that’s me in the corner… well, in the middle. That’s me in the spotlight — not losing my religion, but spreading the D.I.Y. wisdom passed down to me from generations past aka online.
And when you weren’t seeing me this week, you were hearing me sound off on Penny Dreadful‘s season-turned-series finale on the Black Girls Nerds podcast.
A couple weeks ago, I sat with the amazing Jamie Broadnax and several other bloggers/show-watchers (@ValerieComplex and @missrevdee) as we spoke about how John Logan ripped our hearts out and then threw mud pies at it. Take a listen:
It’s not my first podcast with BGN — or my first appearance on a podcast period (I’ve actually done 4 other segments), but it was my first podcast in a while and it was a nice venting session. I actually planned on writing a NGC post on the matter. I might still write one… I still have a lot of feelings.
So. Many. Feelings.
My last big news is that I hit over 500 followers on Twitter!
It actually happened after I was live-tweeting the Penny Dreadful finale for BGN (RIP #DemDreads), after which I really got into my feelings and started going on a bit of a rampage.
Seems like a lot of people agreed with me and those who liked what I had to say seemed to like other things I said and I’ve since stood strong with over 500 followers!
I know that 500 is not much compared to other people out there, but we all gotta start somewhere.
Anyway, that’s all the good news I have for today. I’ll see you guys next week, but remember you’re always welcomed to reach out (and keep me on my toes) on le Twitter…
… You know you want to.
